Santa Rosa, CA -- The Academy of Art women's golf team played the second round of the Sonoma State Women's Invite on Tuesday, and ended the tournament moving up a spot from their first round finish to place eighth overall.
Lyra Yoe overtook teammate
Crystal Superal for the top finisher for the Urban Knights, shooting a 76 on the day and tying for 12th place in the individual standings.
Yoe had the best round for the Urban Knights, and was the only one on the team to lower her score on the second day, from 78 to 76.
Mariana Pazos (79, 79) and
Andrea Nieto (80, 80) both stayed at their first round scores, while
Crystal Superal dropped seven strokes and
Deanna Tyndall lost two strokes off her opening round. The Knights finished in front of Sonoma State's White team, George Fox University, California Lutheran, and PacWest opponent Dominican.
University of British Columbia (602) held on to first place, led by overall winner Kylie Barros (145). They were followed by PacWest foe Grand Canyon (606), Cal State Monterey Bay (611), Augustana College (620), and Sonoma State's Blue team (621), who rounded out the top five. Individually, Barros was followed by Mckenna Corriea (CSUMB), who fired a 74 in the final round to finish at 147. Abby Mann (George Fox) and Arinda Bhanaraksa (CSUMB) tied for third place after Mann's tournament-low round of 69, while Linda Brown (CSUEB) finished at 149 to place fifth.
