Final Results
Lichfield Park, AZ -- ART U Women's Golf moved up to 9th place with a strong second day on the green to close out the Grand Canyon University Fall Invitational. Four of five Urban Knights bettered their first round scores on the Wigwam Golf Course including an impressive eight-stroke improvement by junior
Andrea Nieto.
Junio
Lyra Yoe, tied for 10th individually, had the best score among all Academy of Art players with a 153 (79-74) that reflected a five-stroke change. Yoe had previously been tied with junior
Crystal Superal who turned in a 155 (79-76) which put her in a tie for 17th. Nieto came through with a strong 75 her second time through the course, resulting in a 158 (83-75) and a tie for 36th.
Sophomore
Melissa Genao posted a 169 (82-87) and tied for 60th while fellow sophomore
Sierra Sanchez came in tied for 67th with a two-day score of 174 (88-86). As a team, ART U improved on its score after round one by a total of 12 strokes.
Continuing their success from the first day's action, the Sonoma State Seawolves took the team title, led by Spencer Heller's 138 (68-70). Academy of Art University's strong day two pushed them ahead of Concordia (OR) and fellow Pacific West Conference opponent Grand Canyon.
The Urban Knights will continue their 2011 fall season with the Western Washington Invitational on Oct. 10 and Oct. 11.
