PacWest Release
PHOENIX, AZ - Sophomore Margaret Thorolfsdottir was named to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll for women's soccer after scoring the game-winning goal on Saturday at Treasure Island in a 1-0 non-conference victory over the Dominican Lady Penguins. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Monday.
Head Coach Aileen Nasypany was impressed with Thorolfsdottir's ability to score under pressure, and also as part of the team effort to set up the goal. After
Hannah Emmett drew a yellow card on Dominican, the forward's game-winner was set up by a Jasmine Sharp entry pass to the right elbow of the goalie box before finding the back of the net with less than two minutes to play in regulation.
The Iceland native was held shotless against the host Coyotes of Cal State San Bernadino in last weekend's tournament finale, but bounced back to take two shots against the Penguins. Thorolfsdottir leads the Urban Knights in points (2), shots (6), and shots on goal (3) after scoring the team's first goal of 2011.
This is her first selection to the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll.
