Grimur Grimsson Garners PacWest Top 10 Honors

PacWest Release

PHOENIX, AZ -
Junior Grimur Grimsson garnered a selection to the PacWest Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for men's soccer for the week of Sept. 5-11 after leading the Urban Knights to a 1-1 week against College of Idaho and Menlo. The selection was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ on Monday.

Grimsson scored both goals, including the game-clincher in overtime, in ART U's 2-1 victory against College of Idaho on September 5. Grimsson ranked second on the team for goals last season, and his goal in the 95th minute on the cross from Paul Owens sent the Coyotes home with their tails between their legs.

Grimsson had two near-misses as the Urban Knights were on the wrong side of a 1-0 double-overtime loss to Menlo last Thursday. The forward had two scoring chances in the second half, the first coming off a cross in the box from sophomore Patrick Heinemann, and the second missing just wide on a breakaway.

A key role player off the bench so far in 2011, the native of Iceland ranks third on the team in shots with seven. Grimsson remains a main cog in the offense for Coach Daniel Rosaia, who has a lot of confidence in his forward's nose for the big play.  This marks the fourth time in his career that Grimsson has made the PacWest Top 10 Honor Roll, his first in 2011.
