ART U TRAVELS TO UTAH FOR DIXIE REMATCH

Academy of Art University Baseball comes off a weekend series with Dixie State in which the Urban Knights triumphed 6-5 with a team effort in game two. Now on the road for its next eight games, ART U will look to achieve success away from its home field.

FIRST PITCH
The Knights-Red Storm series kicks off with a doubleheader on Friday, Mar. 4 beginning at 4:00 PM MST (3:00 PM PST). Then, another doubleheader takes place on Saturday, Mar. 5 with first pitch set for 12:00 PM MST (11:00 AM PST). All contests are scheduled to be held at Bruce Hurst Field in St. George, UT. Live Stats and live score updates on the Academy of Art University Athletics Twitter will be available for all games in this series.

KNIGHT WATCH
On the PacWest Weekly Honor Roll this past week, junior left-handed pitcher Zach Mexicano (1-2) and junior outfielder Niko Leite both offered impressive performances against Dixie State. Mexicano went a complete 7.0 innings in ART U's victory while not allowing an earned run and striking out a career-high six batters. Leite, who consistently reached base throughout the series, was 3-for-8 in three starts with three runs scored, a double, and two walks. After senior outfielder Johnathan Robbins set a new school record and tied a PacWest record with four stolen bases in the 6-5 win, he now leads the conference with 10 total steals.

SCOUTING THE RED STORM
Dixie State sports a #8 West Region Poll ranking this week after winning two of three games against ART U last Friday and Saturday. Though the Red Storm have not yet put together consecutive victories this season, they have also not lost more than two in a row at any point. Infielder Jordan Hanley, last week's PacWest Player of the Week, leads the team with a .357 batting average, seven runs scored, 10 walks, and a .550 on-base percentage. Right-handed pitcher Mike Dedrick (1-1), who recently set a school record with 15 strikeouts, offers a 2.13 ERA and 29 strikeouts over 25.1 innings pitched to pace the Red Storm.

KNIGHTS CAPTURE 6-5 VICTORY IN WEEKEND SERIES WITH DSC
Facing Dixie State in three games this past weekend, the Academy of Art University baseball team pulled off a an impressive 6-5 win in the second contest. The Knights were led by a complete game performance from Mexicano on the mound as well as a timely triple by senior outfielder Ryan Worley in the fifth inning. This was Academy of Art's first PacWest victory of the year and came against the #9 team in the West Region.

“It was a heck of a ballgame,” Head Coach Brian Guinn said. “I have to tip my cap; it was a great job by Zach Mexicano, Johnathan Robbins, and Ryan Worley also had a big hit so it was just a total team effort. It's an indication of what they've learned and what they can do.”

Dixie State topped ART U in the other two games over the weekend; a 13-7 game one on Feb. 25 and a 9-2 result on Feb. 26. Six different Urban Knights had hits in the first game which was highlighted by a four-run fifth inning that made it a close contest midway through.

LOOKING AHEAD
Another ART U road series follows this weekend's action. Beginning on Mar. 11, the Urban Knights will face Grand Canyon in a four-game matchup over the course of two days. It will be the first time the two PacWest opponents have met this season.
