Final Results
Austin, TX --- The Academy of Art women's golf team moved up five spots on the final day of the St. Edward's Invitational held at the Grey Rock Golf Club Tuesday afternoon. The Urban Knights', paced by
Crystal Superal, edged out West Texas A&M to finish eighth out of 16 teams. ART U shot the 4th lowest round score (308) on day two to move them up five spots in the rankings.
All five Urban Knights' improved on day two, with Superal leading the charge individually. Superal shot a four over par-75 during the second round of the St. Edward's Invitational. Coupled with her first round score of 79, the sophomore finished the invite with a 154 over 30 holes of golf. Superal garnered her second top 10 finish of the 2010-11 season with an eighth place finish today.
Laura Huertas finished tied for 34th, and carded an 87-77--164.
Lyra Yoe, who registered four birdies over the course of the tournament, shot a 90-78--168 to finish tied for 47th. While
Andrea Nieto fired an 89-83--172 over two rounds to place tied for 63rd. Perhaps the biggest improvement on the day was freshman
Carolina Ivarsson, who shaved 19 strokes off her first round score to finish the day with a 6 over par-78 (97-78--175), bumping her up from 84th to 72nd.
Overall #6 Tarleton State won the invitational by finishing with a 613 (314-299). Host St. Edward's finished three strokes behind them (316-300--616), and Redlands Community College took third by boasting a 317-301--618 over two rounds. Individually Joanna De Sa Peirera of the University of Incarnate Word took the top spot, she carded a 72-72--144 to claim the honor.
The Urban Knights' women's golf team returns to the Bay Area to take part in the Pioneer Shootout hosted by Cal State East Bay on March 5-6.
