Phoenix, AZ – With consistent offensive production and a big hit in Academy of Art University's final game against Cal State Stanislaus, senior infielder
Darnell Quinney has been selected to the Pacific West Conference Weekly Honor Roll. The honor was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Feb. 21 for games contested on Feb. 7-13.
For the week, Quinney batted .429 (6-for-14) across four starts in the series. He posted four runs batted in, scored three runs himself, notched a double, and earned one walk. The senior also showed his speed on the basepaths with two steals in two attempts. Finally, Quinney finished the series with a .500 slugging percentage and a .500 on-base mark.
The Richmond, CA native got going early in the four-game stretch with a 2-for-4 performance in the opening contest on Feb. 11. Quinney played a major role in three of the four ART U rallies that day and his success carried into the doubleheader on Feb. 12. Quinney again had two hits in the first game and proceeded to pitch a complete 6.0 innings in the second. The senior may have saved his best for last, however, because Quinney knocked in three runs with a clutch double in the fifth inning of the series conclusion on Feb. 13.
Quinney, a 2011 Preseason All-PacWest Team selection, earns his first Weekly Top 10 honor of the year and the third of his career.
