Final Results
Santa Rosa, CA -- There were two Urban Knights, juniors
Lyra Yoe and
Crystal Superal, whose identical scores led the way for Academy of Art women's golf following the final round of the 2011 Sonoma State Women's Golf Invitational Tuesday. As a team, ART U turned in a second round score eight strokes lower and placed 8th overall. Yoe and Superal tied for 13th individually after each posted a 159 on the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club's 5,948-yard, Par 73 course.
Yoe impressively trumped her previous round score by seven strokes en route to her 159 (83-76) while Superal turned in a similar result on both days for her 159 (79-80). In the third slot, sophomore
Melissa Genao dropped her first round score by four strokes to finish with a 172 (88-84) in 35th place. Sophomore
Sierra Sanchez came through in a tie for 38th with a 176 (86-90) and sophomore
Mariana Pazos completed her first Academy of Art competition with a 181 (93-88) in 41st. ART U finished with a 664 (336-328) team score.
A Viking still finished as the top golfer in the tournament though it was a different one from yesterday. Western Washington's Claire Rachor earned a tie with University of British Colombia's Kylie Barros after each shot a 148. WWU's lead was shortened to 11 strokes after the second round, but the served as the overall winning team with a 613 (299-314) collective score.
Academy of Art plays its fourth and final fall tournament in Hawaii next week. The Knights will tee off at the Dennis Rose Invitational hosted by Hawaii-Hilo on the Waikoloa Golf Course Monday, Oct. 31.
