KNIGHTS ON THE MARCH
The Urban Knights hit a slight snag last week in the second matchup between ART U and Notre Dame de Namur. After battling to a double-overtime tie at 2-2 (their first of the year) on Thursday and earning their third straight point, the Argos came back and defeated the Knights 3-2 in another gritty battle on Saturday.

GOLDEN GATE DEBATE
The Urban Knights look to continue their success against the Lady Penguins after defeating them on September 10th in a rare non-PacWest matchup between the two teams. The match included a great defensive effort by both teams, with the only goal coming in the 88th minute. That goal was Margret Thorolfsdottir's first of her record-breaking season, and it lifted the Knights to their first victory of 2011.

PRESSURING THE PENGUINS
Part of Academy of Art's success against Dominican was their ability to neutralize the Penguins offensive weapons, particularly freshman Sophie Meneses and her work on top Penguins scorer Julianna Bratsberg. The Penguins have lost three in a row, and have showed to have a tough go if their scorers are pressured.  Against the 'Lopes on Monday, the Penguins only got off three shots and lost 3-0 on three quick goals in 15 minutes. The Urban Knights showed a similar scoring burst against Chaminade, and could do so again on Saturday.

REWRITING THE RECORD BOOKS
Thorolfsdottir, or Magga (pronounced "Maka") to her teammates, is now tied with teammate Hannah Emmett atop the single-season scoring record charts for the Urban Knights. With a goal in both matches against NDNU, Magga now has six on the season, good for 12 points. Emmett achieved her mark last year in 2010, scoring five goals and adding two assists. Megan Bucci is right behind them at 10 points (3g, 4a). The Knights also surpassed 2010's win total and matched the program-high of three wins set back in 2009, and have also set program marks in points (38), goals (14), and assists (10).

MEASURABLE IMPROVEMENT
The Urban Knights have now surpassed last year's win total and matched their program-high win total of three back in 2009. "To reach our win marker at mid-season is a great accomplishment for the team," head coach Aileen Nasypany said. I can finally see this young program taking some steps forward."

LOOKING AHEAD
After taking on Dominican for their first PacWest matchup against the Penguins, ART U heads to Arizona to take on Grand Canyon on Oct. 20 and 22 before coming back for their final homestand of the year, starting with BYU-Hawaii on October 26.
