Final Results
Bellingham, WA -- With another solid round on Tuesday at the 18th Annual Western Washington Invitational, ART U women's golf earned an 8th place team finish in its second fall tournament of the season. Junior
Lyra Yoe remained among the top five individually and
Crystal Superal added a 16th place result to pace the Urban Knights on the 6,028-yard course at the Bellingham Golf & Country Club.
Yoe was tied for 5th overall with a 150 (72-78) and Superal followed up her teammate with a 156 (75-81). The result put Superal in a four-way tie for 16th at the end of two rounds. Junior
Andrea Nieto stayed consistent en route to her 171 (85-86) final score and a tie for 48th overall. Sophomore
Melissa Genao improved in her second round by 12 strokes to move into a tie for 51st with a 172 (92-80). Finally, sophomore
Sierra Sanchez carded a 182 (87-95) to finish 57th individually as the fifth ART U qualifier. The Urban Knights assumed the 8th place position after a strong second day on the links. They pulled in front of Saint Martin's, Chico State, and Victoria-BC.
Though neither one led after the first round, Courtney Soekland of Cal State Monterey Bay and Deanna Tyndall of Cal State East Bay were tied for the best score overall (146). In the end, No. 8 Western Washington and No. 21 Sonoma State shared the team victory with both squads putting together 609 final scores over two rounds of play.
The Knights will compete in their third fall tournament, the Sonoma State Invitational, on Oct. 24 and Oct. 25 at the Santa Rosa Golf & Country Club.
