Maru and Marindich Both Return To PacWest Weekly Top 10

PacWest Release

Amos Maru
Phoenix, AZ -- The senior tandem of Amos Maru and Daveson Marindich were once again recognized on the Pacific West Conference Weekly Top 10 Honor Roll for their performances in the 2011 San Francisco State Invitational last Friday. Both Academy of Art University runners finished ahead of all other competitors from four-year institutions with Maru winning the race outright. The honors were announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Oct. 10 for races contested on Oct. 7-8.

As they have done all season, Maru and Marindich led the way for the Urban Knights in this past week's race. Maru posted a 24.35.6 mark on the 8k course which was over 30 seconds better than the next runner, Marindich. In addition, Maru's time was just two seconds off his career best that came at the Stanford Invitational last year. Needless to say, the result had Maru qualify for the top time in the entire meet.

Daveson Marindich
Backing up Maru, Marindich crossed the finish line in second place with a time of 25:30.2. The next closest finisher behind Marindich was seven seconds slower, putting both ART U runners significantly higher than their competition from SF State, Cal State Stanislaus, Humboldt State, and others. Marindich's mark was a full minute better than the time he turned in on the Golden Gate Park course for the 2011 USF Invitational one month ago.

This is Maru's second PacWest Weekly Top 10 honor of the season and the sixth in his career while Marindich captures his second Weekly honor of 2011 and the 12th in his ART U career.
