Lyra Yoe carried the Academy of Art women's golf team with a 14-over 158 to a third place finish in the Sonoma State Women's Spring Invitational on Tuesday at the Fountaingrove Golf & Country Club in hail and rain-soaked Santa Rosa.
Yoe sat in sixth place in a field of 35 golfers after the final round on Tuesday by eight strokes, carding a 82 after 18 holes. Fighting the inclement weather conditions on Tuesday, she improved her first round score by shaving six strokes off first round score to end the second round with the second lowest round score (76) and finish in sixth place with an overall 158 after 36 holes.
Crystal Superal carded a 78-82--160 in the two day tournament to finish tied fro eighth place.
The Academy of Art finished the tournament with a 657, 52 strokes ahead of seventh-place University of Hawaii - Hilo.
Laura Huertas shot 83-81--164 to finish tied for 11th place, while
Andrea Nieto shot 86-89---175 to place tied fro 20th out of 35 golfers.
Khadija Del-Lero placed 29th with a total score of 103-100---203.
This tournament concludes the Academy of Art women's golf club 2009-2010 season. The Lady Urban Knights and Head Coach Michele Larkey have much to be proud of as they conclude their inaugural season ranked 29th out of all division II women's golf programs.
