Women's Golf Takes First at Dominican Invitational

  Freshman Crystal Superal walked away with a first place victory individually over No. 22 Sonoma State University's Spencer Heller on Tuesday, finishing first overall to lead the Academy of Art women's golf team to a first place finish at the Dominican Invitational at Peacock Gap in San Rafael.  Superal shot 69-75-144 for the tournament to finish only one stroke above second place.  As a team, the Urban Knights were seven strokes ahead the 22nd ranked Seawolves at the tournament's conclusion.

For the Urban Knights freshman Lyra Yoe  had day two's lowest round score. Yoe shot a par 71 to finish day two and a 148 over two rounds (77-71) secured her a third place finish overall, just three strokes behind Heller and four strokes behind teammate, Crystal Superal.

Andrea Nieto tied for fourth to close out the tournament, she shaved three strokes off her first days score to finish day two with a 76, and a total 155 (79-76).  While teammate Laura Huertas finished eighth overall, she shot a 74 on the first day and struggled a little from the field today finishing eight strokes behind her first rounds score, she completed the tournament with a 160.

Khadija Del-Lero rounded out the group with a 12th place finish overall, she improved her score on the final day of competition by one stroke, 93-92-185.

The women hit the course again next week when they travel to Chico, CA to take part in the InterWest Chico State Invitational on March 22-23.
