Crystal Superal Ends Fall Season With a Second Place Finish

Waikaloa, HI --- 
Sophomore Crystal Superal saved her best golf for last, finishing the Dennis Rose Intercollegiate Invite in a two way tie for second place. Superal went head-to-head with Grand Canyon's Tiffany Hewetson and University of Hawaii-Hilo's Nicole Aoki on the final day of play. It was Hewetson, however, who edged out the competition to take the first place individual honor carding a three over par-75 in the final round. Coupled with her 76-75 first and second round scores, Hewetson finished the Invite with a 226, just one stroke ahead of ART U's Superal.

Superal played as well as one could against the 20 player field. The sophomore sank three birdies over three rounds of golf. Superal shot a tournament low par-72 on the opening round of play, which she followed with a 76-79 to finish the tournament with a total score of 227.

Grand Canyon took first as a team, finishing with a 310-302-302--914. Host Hawaii-Hilo took second with a 307-312-307--926. Cal State East Bay edged out the Knights by five strokes to take third place by shooting 313-330-319--962. The Urban Knights rounded out the four team field carding a 316-333-318--967 to finish in fourth place.

Lyra Yoe shot 227 and finished 10th individually, shooting her tournament lowest round score 77 during the third and final round of play. Andrea Nieto finished 12th right behind her teammate carding a 79-85-77--237. Sierra Sanchez shot a 87-90-86--263 over three rounds to finish 19th. While Khadija Del Lero finished with a three round score 291 (97-95-99).

The Dennis Rose Invite concludes the Urban Knights Fall season.
