Women's Soccer Returns Home for Last Non-Conference Game of Season

Game #14
ART U (2-9-2/1-8-1 PWC) vs. William Jessup University (7-4-1/4-1 CalPac)
Friday, October 22nd at 12:30 pm

San Francisco, CA – Boxer Stadium

Returning home: After the single non-conference game this past Saturday, the women return home for a short homestand. They first take on NAIA members William Jessup University in the Knight's last non-conference game of the season. They later resume conference play when they host Grand Canyon the following week. The game against WJU is scheduled for October 22nd at 12:30 pm.

Knight News: The women have buckled down and are playing together as a team, despite the injuries they are having to overcome at the moment. The Urban Knights are playing well and they have the defense to prove it. In their last game against UC Santa Cruz, goal keeper Hana Klimek recorded a new school record of 13 saves in one game. Klimek's defense got her recognized by the PacWest, and her 13 saves is third in the conference for most saves in a single match this season.

Knights to Wacth: Freshman Hannah Emmett who has led the Urban Knights offensively all season, now has a total of five goals, a new team season high. She broke the record previously held by Carmela Doerr last season, and is in fourth place in the conference for goals scored. Emmett also has two assists for a total of 12 points this year. Megan Bucci, Carmela Doerr, and Emi Sullivan have each posted two goals thus far on the season. Both goal keepers Melissa Co and Hana Klimek have combined for an impressive total of 80 saves.

Scouting William Jessup University: The Warriors are top competitors in the NAIA CalPac conference as they sit in second place in the standings with a 4-1 conference record. The team has scored a total of 32 goals this season in their 12 games thus far. They are led by junior Lindsey Cesena who has scored six goals for 12 points, and sophomore Hekla Goodman who has five goals and two assists, for 12 points. The Warriors have 14 other players who have recorded a goal this season, six of them with multiple goals. Junior Katie Rappazzo has seen the majority of time in the net for the Warriors. She has allowed eight goals while posting 22 saves, and also has a 5-2 record. WJU has a young team consisting of three seniors, eight juniors, seven sophomores, and six freshmen. This will be the first match-up between the two teams.

Looking Ahead: After the conclusion of this final non-conference game, the Knights will wrap up their homestand when they host Grand Canyon University on October 28th. Game time is set for 3:00 pm at Boxer Stadium.
