San Francisco, Calif. -- In a match that saw ten cautions and one ejection, Urban Knights men's soccer suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Hawaii Pacific University Tuesday afternoon at Kezar Stadium. This was AAU's fifth loss by one goal in Pacific West Conference play as its record now stands at 4-7-1 overall, 1-6 in league. With the victory, HPU improves to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in conference.
Neither team could score in the opening half even though the teams combined for nine shots. The Sea Warriors were on the attack for a large portion of the period and had seven shots and four corner kicks to show for it.
With the first 45 minutes completed, the intensity level rose dramatically in the second half. Six cautions and the ejection were all dealt out in the physical period where the Urban Knights created numerous scoring opportunities without being able to push a goal across. AAU had six shots compared to just two by Hawaii Pacific in the second half and yet it was HPU who would find the back of the net before the day was over.

Daniel Waller kept the Sea Warriors scoreless for the first half with four saves, however, freshman
Ian Sutherland could not keep HPU off the board in the second period. Hawaii Pacific forward and PacWest Player of the Week Chance Bukoski scored the only goal of the match off a ball passed to him by defender Kainoa Kahui.
Despite scoring no goals, the Urban Knights were led offensively by sophomore midfielder Richard Martin who had three shots, two on goal, and both were near-misses. Freshman forward Frankie Diaz added two shots of his own in the match. AAU had seven cautions to HPU's three in addition to the red card assigned to sophomore midfielder Richard Luna in the midst of a late-match push by the Knights to gain possession.
For the Sea Warriors, Bukoski had one goal in five total shots while midfielder Kimo Komomura was next with two shots. Goalkeepers Matt Terry and Ryan Wurz shared time between the pipes after Terry went down with an injury in the second half. The pair combined for four saves and no goals allowed.
The Urban Knights' next match will be versus Brigham Young University - Hawaii on Oct. 10 at Boxer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:00 PM.
