SAN DIEGO – Academy of Art women's soccer freshman midfielder
Ashley Tasev recorded her second career collegiate goal in Thursday's Pacific West Conference matchup with Point Loma at PLNU Soccer Field, however, the home team's offense struck early and did not look back, eventually taking the match 5-1.
Tasev's goal came in the 75th minute after junior defender Haley Vaughan sent in an over-the-top through ball from midfield on a free kick, which took a bounce off the head of a Sea Lion defender, and ended up at the feet of Tasev as she beat the keeper and knocked it in for the score, taking away the clean sheet from the Sea Lion's duo of goalkeepers.
Jensen Shrout gave PLNU their lead that they never lost in the fifth minute, as Emma Thrapp sent in a cross from a corner kick that was headed down towards the center of the goal. Nikki Ross, Grace Nelson, Bethany Arabe, and Naomi Ellis all added goals of their own, scoring one each to have the 5-0 lead before Tasev could net one on for the Knights.

Making the 10th start of her 2023 campaign, freshman goalkeeper Kayla Hampton added on six more saves to her tally, and remains in first place with her highest average of saves per game in the PacWest (7.8).
