SAN FRANCISCO -- After an evenly played first half, the Urban Knights conceded an early goal in the second period that opened the gate for Hawaii Pacific who took the match 4-0 on LGBTQ History Day at CCSF Soccer Field.
Academy of Art's first opportunity came on a shot by junior midfielder
Adrian Cekala in the third minute that was blocked by the Shark's defense. Cekala went on to lead the Urban Knights with three shots and bring his team leading total to 41.
Solid defense kept HPU off the board in the first half and limited the Sharks to six shots, two of which were saved by sophomore goalkeeper
Kris Jensson. The second year keeper ended the match with six saves, adding to his season total of 80. ART U collected four shots of their own, but none found the back of the net.
HPU's second half scoring explosion began with Jair Espinoza's fifth goal of the season in the 47th minute. The Sharks proceeded to pile on three more goals including two from Tom Karshuening and one from Kyle Rivers putting the game away at 4-0.The Urban Knights added five shots in the second period, and ended the contest with nine total.
With the loss, Academy of Art falls to 2-12-2 overall and 1-7-1 in conference. ART U will take on Chaminade Monday, Oct. 29 at 10:30 in their penultimate game of 2018.
