Katie Loomis begins her first year as Assistant Coach/Goalkeeper Coach/Academic Advisor for the Academy of Art University Women’s Soccer Program in Fall 2012.
Loomis comes to the Urban Knights program after four years of professional soccer, most recently for the Serie A1 team Napoli Carpisa Yammamay in Napoli, Italy. In 2011 she spent time with the OC Waves of the Women's Professional Soccer League. Loomis has also played professionally for Breidablik (Iceland), QBIK (Sweden), the Seattle Women's League, and the San Francisco Nighthawks.
Before playing professionally, Loomis competed for four years for the University of California Santa Cruz Banana Slugs, recording 44 career shutouts with a career Goals Against Average of only 0.114 goals per game. She was a three-time captain for UCSC, and was the NCAA save percentage and goals against statistical champion in 2006. That year she was named to both the Division III Kicks First Team All-Region and First Team All-American. She was also back-to-back All-Independent Keeper of the Year winner for 2006 and 2007.
