Victor Hudson

Victor Hudson, who has extensive professional and coaching experience in both track and field and basketball, joins the Urban Knights as both head track and field coach and head cross country coach in 2009. Operating on the personal motto of "Every athlete will get better," Hudson looks forward to applying this mentality to his program at the Academy of Art.

Hudson comes to the Academy of Art after six years as head coach of the track and field program at Menlo Atherton High School. Under his tutelage, the Bears flourished, winning ten Peninsula Athletic League (PAL) Championships. In 2007, the Central Coast Section recognized his achievements and named Hudson the Track and Field Coach of the Year. Prior to taking the head coach position, Hudson was the assistant coach of sprints, hurdles, and relays for five years. A certified fitness, strength conditioning coach, he also served as the strength and conditioning coach for all Menlo Atherton teams.

Hudson also has many years of basketball coaching experience in the Bay Area. From 2005-2007, he served as an assistant coach and director of operations for the San Jose Ballers, Tri City Ballers, and Tri Valley Titans of the International Basketball League (IBL). From 1998-2002, Hudson worked as commissioner and coach for Stanford University summer basketball camps under head women’s coach Tara VanDerveer and then-head men’s coach Mike Montgomery. Prior to that, he spent one year as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Notre Dame de Namur University. He also has several years of experience as an AAU basketball coach for many age groups.

Hudson played professional basketball in the Continental Basketball Association (CBA) for the Wichita Falls Texans, Yakima Sun Kings, Tri City Chinooks, and Quad City Thunder. He also played for the Youngstown Pride of the World Basketball League. Hudson had tryouts with both the Los Angeles Lakers and Clippers of the NBA. In addition, he participated in the NBA Pro/Am Summer League.

On top of being an accomplished coach and athlete, Hudson is also an entrepreneur. He owns Ultimate Sports, a personal training and fitness business which is in its 14th year of producing successful male and female athletes of all ages and competitive levels in nine sports.

A Bay Area native, Hudson graduated from Menlo Atherton High School before attending the University of Arizona. He and his son currently reside in Redwood City.
