Justin Reid began as an assistant coach for Academy of Art women's basketball in August 2019.
Reid brought more than 10 years of coaching experience and sustained success at Salesian College Preparatory into his role at ART U.
Beginning as assistant varsity girls’ basketball coach at Salesian in 2015, Reid helped continue the Pride’s winning tradition with a 27-6 season that included one of what would be four undefeated years in Tri-Country - Rock league play. In 2016-17, Salesian returned to the CIF State Championship, going 24-9 overall, before another 27-6 campaign in 2017-18. The Pride’s most recent season with Reid on staff saw them go 25-9 overall and a perfect 10-0 in league. Reid compiled a 103-30 record over his four seasons with Salesian.
Prior to Salesian, Reid was an assistant men’s basketball coach at College of Alameda for three seasons from 2009-2012. Reid served as assistant varsity basketball coach for St. Mary’s College High School two years before that and got his start in coaching with both the junior varsity and varsity basketball teams at Hercules High School. At both high schools, Reid was relied upon as defensive coordinator.
Reid earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Barry in 2006.
