Jose Mendoza joined the Urban Knights as Assistant Coach in July 2016.

After working as a volunteer in 2016, Mendoza was promoted to a full-time assistant coach before the 2017 season.

Before joining the Urban Knights, the San Francisco native competed for four years (2010-2013) at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Medoza started every game in both his freshman and sophomore years and at one-point held the record for the most minutes-played in program history.

Menoza is the older brother of Ricardo "Ricky" Mendoza who was a men's soccer player at Academy of Art for four years.
