Anne Ricketts

Anne Ricketts first came to Academy of Art University in January of 2008 as an English as a Second Language teacher. After a semester of teaching, she heard of the growing athletic department at ART U and decided to get in on the action.

In Anne's second year for the Urban Knights, she helped coach both the men's and women's cross country squads, helping the men win the Pacific West Conference Championship in their first year in the Conference and the women place 4th. Ricketts coaches both men's and women's mid-distance to distance events in track.

Ricketts has been running competitively since she was 10 years old.  She ran cross country and track for Saratoga High School in the Bay Area and then went on to compete for UC Davis. She still holds the 1,500 and 3,000 meter records at her high school and was named Saratoga High School Female Athlete of the Year in 1999. Having been plagued with injuries through her competitive career, she takes a special interest in injury prevention/management and cross training.

Ricketts received her undergraduate degree in Italian and a minor in Sports Psychology from UC Davis in 2003 and completed her masters from San Francisco State University in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages in 2007. She has lived and taught English in Italy and Mexico. Ricketts currently resides in San Francisco and is a full-time teacher and coach at Academy of Art University.
