Jon Ward

Jon Ward enters his second season as a graduate assistant for the Academy of Art University men’s basketball program.

Ward’s combination of coaching and playing experience make him a particularly strong fit for ART U. Most recently, he served as an assistant coach at Westwind High School where he helped the squad to an impressive 27-2 record and their first ever Arizona State Tournament appearance in 2008.

Ward played basketball for three years at UC San Diego (2005-2008) and was part of a Tritons team that won a California Collegiate Athletic Association championship and made the NCAA Division II Tournament. In his senior year, Ward earned All-CCAA Academic Team. He graduated from UCSD with a bachelor’s degree in History with an emphasis on War, Revolution and Social Change. Prior to competing for the Tritons, Ward played for two years at Marshall University (2003-2005)

A 2003 graduate of Paradise Valley High School in Phoenix, AZ, Ward ranks in the career Top-10 at Paradise Valley in points scored and second all-time in free throw percentage. He was also a First Team All-Desert Valley Region selection and earned Honorable Mention All-State (5A).

Ward is currently receiving his master's degree in Advertising at Academy of Art University.
