Clint Tremelling began as an assistant coach with the Academy of Art University men’s basketball program in June 2019.
In his first year with ART U, Tremelling helped head coach Scott Waterman guide the Urban Knights to the program's second consecutive PacWest Tournament appearance, tie the program's record for wins in a single season (12), and set numerous team and individual records along the way. New program marks were set in multiple categories as a team, including single-season points (2105), rebounds (1115), field goals made (781), 3-point field goals (210), and assists (434) while Stefan Milivojevic was named
All-PacWest First Team upon setting the five ART U records (most notably career points scored at 890) and Josh Hill garnered
All-PacWest Third Team honors. The postseason also brought five
Academic All-PacWest recipients as well as three
NABC Honors Court selections.
Tremelling joined ART U after serving as a graduate assistant for NCAA Division I University of Nevada, Reno men’s basketball. On staff with a program that had a two-year stretch highlighted by 58 wins, his responsibilities as a graduate assistant for the Wolf Pack included on-court coaching, coordinating recruiting, scouting, and film breakdown.
Prior to his time at Nevada, Tremelling served as an assistant coach at Stanislaus State (2015-2018) where he was responsible for recruiting, game scheduling, budget analysis, travel, and camp coordination. In 2017, Tremelling was the camp director for the Warriors Youth Basketball Camp and in charge of marketing, hiring, and organizing the details of the event. He also engaged with community outreach and organized fundraising efforts for the program. During his time as an assistant coach at Stanislaus State, Tremelling simultaneously worked as a substitute teacher in the Turlock Unified School District. He facilitated lesson plans while maintaining the integrity of the learning environment in the absence of the student’s teacher.
A four-year varsity letter winner and three-time captain, Tremelling played as a guard at Stanislaus State from 2011-2015 during a period in which the team won the most games in a four-year span in school history. In 2014, his .467 three-point percentage and team leading 49 3-pointers contributed to a CCAA Conference Championship and subsequent NCAA Sweet 16 appearance. Off the court, he was a member of Stanislaus State’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for four years, serving as treasurer from 2014-2015.
Tremelling earned a master's degree in Physical Education from Azusa Pacific University in May 2019.
