Mac Clonan, a former collegiate and professional player, enters his first season as assistant baseball coach.
Clonan brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to the Academy of Art University after a successful career at Wesleyan University. A four-year member of the baseball team, Clonan served as captain his senior year. He was also honored with the McNaughten Award for excellence in baseball following his senior season in 2005. In addition to baseball, Clonan played and coached water polo at Wesleyan. As a player, he was named to All-League (2003-05) and All-Division III (2004-05) teams. Clonan also received many accolades as head water polo coach. He was a three-time Coach of the Year (2004-06) and the 2005 Division III National Championship Coach of the Year. Clonan also spent one season on the Wesleyan swimming team.
In March of 2008, Clonan made the spring training roster for the Chico Outlaws of the Golden Baseball League.
A native of Greenwich, Conn., Clonan was a three-sport athlete at Greenwich High School, lettering in baseball, water polo, and swimming. He received numerous awards during his prep career, including all-league (1999-2000) in baseball as well as All-East Coast (1999) and All-American (1999) in water polo. Clonan graduated from Wesleyan University in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in European History.
