A former San Francisco 49er and Super Bowl Champion, Mike Shumann was a wide receiver who played in the NFL from 1978-1983. Shumann joined the 49ers after being drafted out of Florida State (where he was a four-year starter, All-American, and member of the Seminole Hall of Fame) and went on to play for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and St. Louis Cardinals as well. In his career, Schumann notched 62 receptions, 760 receiving yards, and five touchdowns.
Shumann was a wide receiver for the San Francisco 49er team that won Super Bowl XVI. It was the first of five titles that the Niners would go on to win.
During his playing career, Shumann worked as a sportscaster, creating and hosting two television sports magazine programs. His 49er Magazine Show aired from 1977 - 1982 and was followed by City Sports, an award-winning show that aired on cable from 1993 - 1995, winning two Cable ACE Awards.
Shumann donates his time to several charities and community organizations. While in the NFL, Shumann was the honorary chairman of the Northern California Special Olympics and a board member of the San Francisco Youth Tennis League.
He was born in Louisville, Kentucky and currently serves as a Sports Anchor for KGO-TV in San Francisco.
