Darryl Pollard


Darryl Pollard is a former NFL cornerback who played for the San Francisco 49ers (five years) and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (one year). A graduate of Weber State, Pollard captured All-Conference honors in his senior year before going on to be part of two Super Bowl championships the 49ers.

Pollard, a native of Ellsworth, Maine, had a key play in Super Bowl XXIII in 1988 where he made alert recovery of of fumble by John Taylor and then started 14 of 16 games at cornerback the following season. In 1990, Pollard had become the regular starting cornerback continuing to make significant plays late in the season. Injuries hampered him in his last two seasons where he played for Tampa Bay, but Pollard would later go on to play for the San Jose Sabercats in the Arena Football League for one year.
