2025 Titan Tune-Up Results
2025 Franson Last Chance Results (Day 1)
In Southern California for the final week of the regular season, Academy of Art track & field made moves up the national rankings with multiple Urban Knights responsible for NCAA Division II Outdoor Nationals provisional efforts in Cal State Fullerton's Titan Tune-Up and to start Azusa Pacific's Franson Last Chance on Friday.
FULLERTON, Calif. – Standout runs for
Robin Black in the 400m hurdles and
Tre'Sean Bouie in the 400m dash were among ART U's highlights in the Titan Tune-Up hosted from Titan Stadium.
Dropping under 51 seconds in the 400m hurdles for the first time in 2025, Black claimed second out of five total with a 50.90 mark. The improvement of his season best by nearly a full second and a half put the Music Production & Sound Design for Visual Media major into the country's top five among Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifiers.
First across the finish line in a collection of eight total competitors which included two from Cal State Fullerton, Bouie posted a time of 47.38 to win by more than a full second. It was his seventh time under the Outdoor Nationals provisional threshold in seven tries this season.
AZUSA, Calif. – The Franson Last Chance inside Cougar Stadium featured the fastest 100m dash for
Ajani Ince and the quickest 800m in the career of
Ethan Forbes on Friday.
With just over an hour in between his two rounds of the 100m dash, Ince first placed fourth of 52 with a 10.38 in the prelims then significantly bettered that mark by going 10.23 to tie for the top spot out of 23 semifinal qualifiers. Ince's battle with Fresno Pacific's Shemar Palmer saw both cross the finish line with the same time that would elevate both into the top 14 as Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifiers.
Forbes took more than half a second off his previous best in the 800m, ducking under the 1:50.00 barrier for the first time in his career. At 1:49.95, the Interaction & UI/UX Design major not only maintained his third position in program history, but also placed among the top 20 of 99 competitors on the day and top 30 in the country with his second Outdoor Nationals provisional performance.
The Franson Last Chance will conclude tomorrow with the Cal State LA Very Last Chance to follow on Sunday.
