2025 Hornet Invitational ResultsÂ
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Back at Hornet Stadium on Saturday, Academy of Art track & field strongly closed out its first outdoor meet with a full complement of Urban Knights, delivering multiple NCAA Division II Outdoor Nationals provisional performances in Sacramento State's Hornet Invitational.
Less than 24 hours after breaking the Academy of Art 800m record,
Lina Hanich delivered a personal record in the 1500m as well. The native of Paderborn, Germany saw only NCAA DI competitors ahead of her as she placed fifth out of 109 overall with a time of 4:27.0. The mark was more than four-and-a-half second improvement from her personal record, elevated her to second in program history, and rocketed her to the top spot in the country among Outdoor Nationals provisional qualifiers.
Outside of her individual achievement, Hanich ran the second leg of ART U's 4x400m relay with
Tresley Love,
Michaela Andrews, and
Juvonna Cornette, combining to go 3:47.36. In a primarily NCAA DI event, the Outdoor Nationals provisional time was second among NCAA DII squads behind only Fresno Pacific (3:40.88), putting the Knights in that same position nationally as well.
Two men's relays posted Outdoor Nationals provisional marks to bookend the day as
Tre'Sean Bouie,
Robin Black,
Tariq Dacres, and
Ajani Ince first teamed up for a 40.67 in the 4x100m relay. Their mark, 11th in the country, was second on the day behind only NCAA DI San Jose State and Stanford. Later in the 4x400m relay, the combination of Bouie, Black,
Josh Shavies, and Dacres crossed the finish line at 3:11.20 for the second-fastest time in the nation this season back of only FPU (3:10.85) in the same heat.
Bouie also succeeded individually, improving on his 400m outdoor best with a 47.22 mark across the finish line. The Outdoor Nationals provisional effort that put him third of 68 on Saturday raised the Motion Pictures & Television major to second in the nation thus far.
In his first collegiate 1500m,
Ethan Forbes put himself into the nation's top 10 with a time of 3:53.45. Though outside of Outdoor Nationals provisional qualification, he still finished sixth of 114 competitors on the day and won his 15-runner heat by more than half a second.
ART U will conclude the month of March with the Texas Relays in Austin on Mar. 26-29.
