2025 Sunbird Invitational Results
FRESNO, Calif. – Getting an early start on outdoor competition, Academy of Art track & field had its returners take important steps forward while some of the Urban Knights' newest additions also shined in Fresno Pacific's Sunbird Invitational on Saturday at FPU Track.
A successful first outdoor 400m came from
Tre'Sean Bouie who delivered a NCAA Division II Outdoor Nationals provisional mark in his first outdoor meet since joining the program. He posted a 47.63 good for third of 34 overall, but he claimed the second spot only to Fresno Pacific's Shermar Palmer among NCAA DII competitors.
In outdoor action for the first time since 2023,
Robin Black led during his heat in the 400m hurdles and ended up one third of a second off the provisional standard for Outdoor Nationals at 53.46 across the finish line. He finished fourth of 21 on the day and third among hurdlers from NCAA DII institutions.
The women's javelin began the day and saw
G'nea Pitt debut by nearly breaking the program record. She dominated her flight and, with a throw of 129-11 (39.60m), finished second out of the 22-thrower field, second in ART U history, and second in the country just off of Outdoor Nationals provisional qualification.
While the Urban Knights still have two more indoor regular season meets, the Fasttrack Last Chance Invitational (Feb. 28) and Last Chance Indoor National Qualifier (Mar. 2), ahead of Outdoor Nationals, the next outdoor competition will be the Cal Season Opener on Mar. 8 in Berkeley.
