Knights Not Able To Close After Sharks' Early Start

WAIPAHU, Hawaii – In a match graduate student goalkeeper Nicole Peoples added another eight saves towards her season total, Academy of Art women's soccer saw themselves down early to Hawaii Pacific and could not create the comeback to result in a 2-0 triumph for the Sharks.

Seeing an early lead from the jump, Hawaii Pacific sprung ahead in the first minute of the match with a score from Caylie Uyema after it was sent in by Lauren Longworth off a corner kick. ART U would see five more shots before HPU tacked on their second score, as their seventh of the match saw Mehana Ortiz turn the contest to a two-score advantage for the Sharks in the 40th minute. The Urban Knights would manage to get a corner in the closing minutes of the half, but they could not convert before the break.

HPU kept their foot on the gas with four shots to open the second frame, but the Knight defense held on. Senior defender/forward Halldóra Einarsdóttir responded soon after with a shot of her own towards the Sharks' net, but it would fall off target. Three more shots came from HPU in the match, but the ART U defense kept the match to just a two-goal deficit to see the contest end with a 2-0 final score.

ART U will next return home for one match as they'll host the Biola Eagles at SF Glens at Treasure Island Field with an 1:30 p.m. kickoff on Thursday, Oct. 10.
