Palos Nets First Goal With ART U In 3-1 Loss To Jessup

ROCKLIN, Calif. – Junior forward Alejandro Palos scored his first goal of the season, but Academy of Art men's soccer dropped a 3-1 decision to Jessup on Friday at Warrior Field.

One of his three shots, Palos' score came in the 69th minute following a drawn penalty within the box and brought the match to a one-score deficit at 2-1. Shortly after in the 77th minute, senior midfielder Gilly Miller got a shot off that made contact with the post but was inevitably cleared.

Another 20 minutes of scoreless play ensued in the second half until Jeffery Garcia extended Jessup's lead to 3-1 in the final seconds of play. With this win for Jessup, the Warriors are now tied with ART at 2-2 all-time against one another.

Palos' goal marks him second place in points on the squad (3), first place in total shots (15), first in shots on goal for ART U and third in the Pacific West Conference rankings (8). Sophomore goalkeeper Jaiden Brooks added three more saves to his season total which now puts him at third in the PacWest in saves per game.

Palos and redshirt sophomore midfielder Elvis Mensah each ended the match with a team-high three shots, with both Miller and freshman midfielder Tristen Banquil each tacking one on. Freshman midfielder Joey Glaab recorded another full 90 minutes of play and has continued his streak of playing every minute thus far on the season.

Coming up next, Academy of Art looks ahead to their first match of PacWest play against UH Hilo on Sept. 25.
