SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Academy of Art women's tennis matched Friday's score with a 6-1 win over Dominican on Saturday at Castellucci Family Tennis Center. Up 3-1 midway through singles play, ART U saw three of its Urban Knights emerge with three-set victories to close the day strong.

Jessica Plazas and sophomore
Erica Hellbe defeat Gina Dudley and Audrey Rafols 6-1 before Academy of Art (2-1) secured the point on another 6-1 result from sophomore
Paulina Alvarez and junior
Viktoria Leth over Hannah Lam-Truong and Astrid Craig of Dominican (1-1) on court three.
The match was evened up at 1-1 with a retirement on the first court, but the Knight soon assumed a 3-1 advantage with junior
Yun "Nicole" Shiau bettering Craig 6-3, 6-0 on court three and Leth dispatching Haley Garcia 6-3, 6-0. Another half hour would pass before the next singles match went final as all remaining pairings required a third set. Alvarez finished first, coming back to top Lam-Truong by a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 final then Hellbe followed with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win over Zoe Coggins with another late push. On court two, sophomore
Julia Ortega battled Dudley not just into a third set, but also a tiebreaker at 6-6 which ultimately ended with the Communications & Media Technologies major prevailing 7-4 in a 2-6, 6-3, 7-6 final line.
In its first of two trips to Fresno this season, ART U next plays Stanislaus State on Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. on neutral ground followed by Fresno Pacific on Feb. 25 at 10 a.m.
