ART U Falls To Sea Lions In Season's Penultimate Match

SAN DIEGO – In the second match of their Southern California road trip, Academy of Art men's soccer fell to Point Loma 3-0 on Tuesday at PLNU Soccer Field.

The Sea Lions first struck in the the 11th minute on a goal from Milo Libby dished in from Juan Salazar and Marlon Buck. Libby headed the ball in towards the far post off a cross into the box, giving PLNU a 1-0 lead. The Sea Lions tacked on another goal just minutes later, with Salazar this time getting credited for the score after receiving a through ball from Kupa'a Fernandez down the right side.

The Urban Knights did well to keep the Sea Lions off the board for most of the rest of the match, but in the 75th minute Salazar found the net once more in unassisted fashion after intercepting a pass and getting a shot to go towards the bottom right. PLNU went on to take the 3-0 victory.

Senior midfielder/forward Gilly Miller led ART U in shots with two, as freshman midfielder Tristen Banquil, sophomore forward Ismaël Elmi, and junior defender Abraham Valencia all tacked on one each. Sophomore goalkeeper Jaiden Brooks notched three saves, remaining ranked among the best PacWest goalies in saves per game with his 4.20 average (third place).

After the loss, ART U falls to 2-11-4 overall and 2-6-1 in conference. Academy of Art will play their last match of the season against Biola on Nov. 4 at Al Barbour Field with a 4 p.m. kickoff.
