ART U Executes Clean Sweep Of Dominican

SAN RAFAEL, Calif – Academy of Art women's tennis didn't lose a set throughout the entire day during their battle with Dominican on Saturday, as ART U pulled off the perfect sweep at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center by a final of 7-0. 

Playing their first match since Mar. 20, it was a stellar return to the court for the Urban Knights (3-4). The day started with doubles action, and the first match to conclude happened to come from he first position. There, the sophomore duo of sophomore Sofia Ragona and Yun "Nicole" Shiau rolled past Zoe Coggins and Amber Del Rosario, 6-2. Next to finish was court three where the freshman tandem of Aitana Comas Adam and Erica Hellbe notched the 6-4 win over Taylor Lim and Haley Garcia. Adding onto the already clinched doubles point from court two was the freshman combo of Maria Cassuci and Julia Ortega, as they also recorded a 6-4 win over the pair of Nicole Bermudez and Kaitlyn Nguyen. 

The strong start for ART U continued into singles play, as Comas Adam was the first to finish off her opponent by bouncing Lim on court four 6-3, 6-1. Cassuci followed soon after from court three, as she dispatched Nguyen with a score of 6-1, 6-2. From the first position, the No. 47 ranked Ragona picked up the match-clinching point for the Knights by downing Del Rosario, 6-1, 6-2. Playing to finish, the next court to finish was the second, where Shiau followed her doubles partner with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Kamar Alajeely. It was the sixth position that came next, where Hellbe disposed of Bermudez with a score of 6-1, 6-4. Finally, earning the last win of the day on court five was Ortega, powering past Coggins with a final of 6-0, 6-4. 

Just one match remains on the schedule for ART U prior to the PacWest Championships, as a matchup with the Sunbirds awaits on Apr. 17 at noon.
