Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Hot Shooting From Yotes Too Much For Knights

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – While Academy of Art men's basketball traded shots early on with Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, CSUSB would knock down over half of their looks from the floor en route to the 96-64 victory in non-conference action.

Looking to get back into the win column after suffering their first defeat of the season last time out, the Urban Knights (2-2) would wind up winning the turnover battle, but it was the Yotes (4-0) who were in control for most of the contest. Ranked the No. 25 team in the D2SIDA poll, CSUSB drained 58.8 percent of the looks in the first half, building a double-digit lead and ending the halftime break up 54-30.

The second half was much the same as the first, as ART U found little room to operate against the defense of the Yotes. Though the Knights forced their opponents into committing 17 turnovers, it was CSUSB who held the edge in points off of those turnovers, with 21 points coming after an Academy of Art lost ball compared to just 13 for the Knights.

Not even three players in double figures could keep ART U in the game, as senior guard Joshua Bagley produced 14 points while graduate student guard Deang Deang chipped in 11 points with six rebounds. Leading the way on the glass for ART U was sophomore forward Latrell Williams, snatching seven rebounds to go with his nine points, while Deang and redshirt junior guard Christian Popoola Jr. added three assists apiece.

The Knights will attempt to get above .500 on the season when they return to the court this coming Tuesday, Nov. 23 at 4 p.m. when they take on Stanislaus State from Walter Gleason Gym.
