SAN FRANCISCO – Facing Biola for the second time in less than a month, Academy of Art women's basketball pushed a three-point lead at halftime, held the Eagles to just seven points in the third, and went on to emerge 68-58 winners. The Pacific West Conference rematch was highlighted by a game-high 25 points from graduate student guard
Tayler Bennett and the first double-double of the season for sophomore guard
Chanel Stuart (15 points, 10 rebounds).
Though BU scored the game's first points, a 12-2 surge came from the Urban Knights over the next three minutes as Stuart and senior guard
Josselyn Morris each knocked down 3-pointers. Biola steadily worked its way back within a single point by the end of the first quarter and, after the teams settled on a 20-20 score early in the second, a three-point barrage rained down. Stuart hit two of three, senior forward
Ines Medina added another, and ART U suddenly had its largest lead of the quarter at 29-22.
A late triple brought the Eagles to within three, 33-30, just before halftime, but the third quarter belonged to Academy of Art. After an opening two minutes in which BU missed two shots and turned the ball over twice, Bennett hit a 3-pointer and Stuart found freshman forward
Aari'yanna Sanders for layups twice amid a 6-0 push. Though Biola had the margin down to five with three minutes and 18 seconds left, they would not score for the remainder of the frame while Bennett and Morris boosted the lead back to 11 on a pair of triples.

The Eagles' scoring drought continued into the fourth and became a full six minutes and 39 seconds without points before a 3-pointer came midway through the final quarter. Junior forward
Sankia Braxton's jumper started a 6-0 run that kept ART U ahead by double digits for nearly the remainder of the afternoon. As BU frantically tried to come back, the Knights relied on 10 made free throws in the last two minutes to secure their 68-58 win as the buzzer sounded.
ART U improves to 8-12 overall and 6-10 in PacWest matchups, relying heavily upon Bennett and Stuart on both ends of the court. Of Bennett's 25 points, nine came on a 3-for-3 effort from distance and 10 were converted in 11 free throw attempts. Stuart's aforementioned double-double was complemented by six assists and two steals. Morris and Sanders each totaled eight points as well.
Dropping to 15-8 on the year and 11-6 in conference, Biola got a team-high 14 points from Jazz Benn while Aysia Johnson grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.
Academy of Art will next host Holy Names on Thursday, Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. Stay tuned to
