LAKELAND, Fla. -- Playing top 15 ranked opponents on back to back days, Academy of Art came out and beat Florida Southern 4-3 Monday afternoon at Wynee Warden Tennis Center to improve their record to 8-3.
In a return to form, ART U captured the doubles point with a 6-4 win from the No. 1 ranked senior pair of
Alma Thell-Lenntorp and
Klara Thell-Lenntorp and a 6-1 win by junior
Mariacristina Andrisani and freshman
Sofia Ragona. The Thell-Lenntorp twins improve to 8-2 on the year while the Italian duo moves to 6-3.
K. Thell-Lenntorp continued her outstanding singles play with another win in the top position, a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Selin Devrimci. Ragona was next, defeating Lola Asis by way of a 6-3, 6-2 score. The Urban Knights clinched when A. Thell-Lenntorp took down Magda Stepnik 6-4, 6-1 giving ART U a 4-3 victory.
With the win over No. 12 Florida Southern, Academy of Art improves to 8-3. The Urban Knights will play the final game of their Florida road trip tomorrow at 3 p.m. ET versus another tough opponent, No. 3 Saint Leo at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.
