SAN FRANCISCO -- After facing a rain delay No. 11 Academy of Art women's tennis came out ready to play and defeated UH Hilo 5-1 Wednesday afternoon at the Bay Club SF Tennis with dominant performances from freshman
Sofia Ragona and senior
Klara Thell-Lenntorp.
Playing out of the first position K. Thell-Lenntorp improved to a perfect 6-0 by sweeping Marina Colvee 6-2 in both sets of her match. Ragona did the same but with an even larger win margin taking both sets with ease by a score of 6-1.
The wins kept coming for ART U with seniors
Alma Thell-Lenntorp,
Taisiia Andrieieva, and junior
Mariacristina Andrisani all winning their matches. Andrisani went 6-2, 6-4 over Carmelle Joyner to bring her record to 4-1. A. Thell-Lenntorp fell behind early, dropping the first set 6-4, but turned things around to take sets two and three by a score of 6-1. Finally, Andrieieva took her match in three sets, losing the first 7-6 but the senior from Ukraine battled back to win the second set 6-4, and grinded out the third set 11-9.
The victory over UHH moves the Urban Knights win streak to three and brings their record to 6-2. ART U will be back at Bay Club SF Tennis tomorrow when they face off against St. Edwards at 9 a.m.
