HONOLULU – In the first of three matches in Hawaii for the Urban Knights, Chaminade scored a goal early in the first half that ART U was never able to match, forcing them to drop a 1-0 decision, Saturday afternoon at Saint Louis Field.
Academy of Art recorded 11 shots including three on goal in the match. Junior midfielder
Alyssa Rasmussen led ART U with four, while three other Urban Knights had two shots apiece. Freshman goalkeeper
Nicole Peoples registered her first full 90 minutes in the first start of her career. She also faced a season-high 12 shots on which she made three saves.
The defensive duo of freshman
Katie Williams and sophomore
Britney Flint both played every minute of the match and did a great job of leading the ART U defense. The full 90 continues Flint's streak of playing every minute of every match this season.
The lone goal of the match came from the Silverswords' Asya Holt in the 15th minute. Holt headed in a throw-in by Kirstin Wong to give CUH an early 1-0 lead. From there, the 'Swords buckled down defensively and kept ART U off the board for the remainder of the match. The Urban Knights had looks on goal in the 30th minute by sophomore midfielder
Avica Robings and in the 85th by Williams, but both were saved to protect the Silverswords lead and give them a 1-0 victory.
After the loss, Academy of Art falls to 7-6-3 overall and 3-4-2 in conference. ART U will look to bounce back in the second match of their island tour on Nov. 11 against Hawaii Pacific with kickoff slated for 4:30 p.m. HT.
