SAN FRANCISCO – Academy of Art fell 3-0 to Fresno Pacific on senior day at CCSF Soccer Field despite a career high 11 saves form sophomore goalkeeper
Davis King and contributions from all three seniors.Â
Before the match, a brief ceremony was held to thank the three seniors,
Isiah Quiros,
Zak Kiser, and
Andrew Deans, for their hard work and commitment to the program. Both Quiros and Deans have been at Academy of Art since their freshman season in 2016 while Kiser joined the program one year later as a sophomore.Â
Kiser started the match strong with multiple opportunities early in the first half. Quiros claimed the first ART U shot in the 18th minute on a free kick from two yards outside the right corner of the penalty box that he hit to the bottom right corner, but the FPU keeper handled it to keep the Urban Knights scoreless.Â
The Sunbirds found the back of the net in the 52nd minute to break the scoreless tie. Fritz Volmer sent in a cross from the left side of the box that Antonio Lepe volleyed to the far left corner of the net.Â
ART U had a great opportunity in the 53rd minute when sophomore forward
Fannar Omarsson dribbled to the left corner and sent in a nice cross. Deans quicky controlled the ball just outside the goal box and hit a shot barely wide right. Quiros put another shot on frame less than a minute later from the top of the penalty box, but the FPU goalie once again made a stop.

Lepe stuck again in the 66th minute to put FPU up 2-0. A combination play in the box freed up Lepe for a strong right foot to the right corner of the net.Â
Academy of Art had one final opportunity in the 67th minute as sophomore midfielder
Breki Einarsson ripped a shot on target from 26 yards out that challenged the keeper, but the save was made.Â
FPU scored their last goal in the 87th minute off the foot of Alejandro Blazquez who followed up a deflection that he put in the bottom right corner for a 3-0 Sunbird victory.Â
After the loss, Academy of Art falls to 1-11-1 overall and 0-6-1 in conference. The Urban Knights will be back in action next Tuesday to make up a match with Dominican before traveling to Hawaii for a three-match roadtrip.
