2018 Azusa Pacific Twilight & Multi Results
AZUSA, Calif. – Competing under the lights at the Azusa Pacific Twilight & Multi on Friday out at Cougar Stadium, the Urban Knights' top achievement was a NCAA Division II Nationals provisional qualifier in the men's 4x100m as well as numerous race victors across the board.
It was the combination of
Marlon Britton,
Mobolade Ajomale,
Nicolas Morales Williams, and
Arrun Palacio who teamed up for a 40.66 in the men's 4x100m relay. A considerably better time than race competitor Cal State Los Angeles (ranked 14th in NCAA DII), the mark elevated Academy of Art to 11th in the country.
Individual success also came for Ajomale in the 200m and Morales Williams in the 400m. Ajomale finished more than a full second ahead of the next closest competitor, Texas Lutheran's Marquis Brown, after a 20.85 in the 200m. The 400m saw a lifetime-best 49.10 for Morales Williams after two previous meets of steadily lower times in the event.
Both the men's and women's 800m had Knights cross the finish line first with
Rabah Houali offering the best mark of the day, a 1:51.44 that was just 0.34 shy of his program record set the previous weekend. The best time of the season for
Beatriz Martinez Mercado was a 2:10.98 good for another Nationals provisional and top 30 in the country.
Finally, in the women's 400m hurdles,
Marion Presigny was not far from her season-best, going 1:01.89 on Friday in Azusa.
Academy of Art is now set to contest its final meet of the regular season with the Oxy Invitational coming up tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m.
