2017 USTFCCCA NCAA Division Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Team
NEW ORLEANS -- With the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships approaching next week, Academy of Art University track & field wrapped up its 2017 outdoor regular season with a total of 26 All-Region honors as announced by the nation's foremost track & field organization on Tuesday. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) bestows All-Region awards to the top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three, meaning seven members of the Urban Knights men's squad and five women were selected.
The men's team, ranked
4th in the West Region,
13th in the country (as of May 16), had 16 total All-Region honors. Just two male athletes who earned awards in five events including ART U's
Mobolade Ajomale in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m.
Quinlan Wright brought home selections in three events (110mH, 400mH, 4x400m) while three other Knights came away with two awards apiece highlighted by
Christian Carter (4x100m, 4x400m) as well as
Craig Mattox and
Michane Ricketts in both the 4x100m and long jump. As one of four individuals to automatically qualify, Gatien Airiau picked up a single All-Region honor in the 3000m steeplechase and
Michael Houston rounded out the team in the 4x400m.
A total of 10 All-Region selections were given to the Academy of Art women's team, ranked
5th in the West Region and
25th in the country, led by
Hannah Hensley's trio of honors (4x400m, HJ, Heptathlon).
Marion Presigny (100mH, 400mH) and
Mistic Scott (400m, 4x400m) each captured a pair of awards while
Jasmine Grace (4x400m),
Schae Graham (4x400m), and
Rian Young-Werner (TJ) each had one apiece.
The ART U men's and women's teams will be in action at the 2017 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in Bradenton, Florida next week on May 25-27.
