Academy of Art University track & field sent competitors to the Beach Invitational, Mt. SAC Relays, and Cal State East Bay Invitational on Saturday and came away with various standout performances including an improvement to the women's 4x400m relay team's NCAA Nationals provisional mark.
TORRANCE, Calif. – Stealing the show on the final day of the Mt. SAC Relays was the combined effort of
Schae Graham,
Mistic Scott,
Jasmine Grace, and
Marion Presigny in the 4x400m relay.
In an eight-team field that was loaded with NCAA Division I talent, ART U's foursome came through with a new season-best 3:42.04 which bettered their mark from the Stanford Invitational. Third in program history, the time also brings them closer to the third-fastest time run by a Division II team in 2017.
LONG BEACH, Calif. – The Beach Invitational, hosted by Long Beach State, was the site of both a new program record by
Quinlan Wright in the men's high jump and a new personal record from
Rian Young-Werner in the women's long jump.
Known more for his talents as a hurdler, Wright found himself approaching the high jump bar on Saturday. He would impress, elevating to a new program record 6-2.75 (1.90m).
In the long jump, Young-Werner achieved the best mark of her two-year career with a NCAA provisional 18-11.75 (5.78m). She ended up finishing 17th of 72 jumpers and cracks the country's top 25 in the event.
HAYWARD, Calif. – Day two of the Cal State East Bay Invitational was highlighted by
Giulia McIsaac's new personal best in the 800m. She would deliver a time of 2:23.85 for fifth place out of 36 runners.
A change to the Urban Knights' schedule now has them competing in The Cardinal Classic on the campus of Stanford University next weekend (Apr. 21-22).
