SAN FRANCISCO – In a physical matchup against PacWest-newcomer Biola, the Urban Knights' early second-half goal shifted momentum in their favor. However, the score was ultimately not enough to overtake the Eagles, as they dropped the match 3-1.
Â
The first half of the match was a defensive-showcase. After surrendering a goal six minutes into the game on a breakaway, ART U went on to concede only three shots the remainder of the period. The Knights' sole first-half opportunity came in the 22nd-minute when junior midfielder
Alexander Tombach placed a threatening header on goal, but it was saved by the Eagles' goalkeeper.
Â
In a much more offensive second half, Biola struck first, adding on another goal in the 51st-minute. However, ART U would not go down without a fight, as they retaliated just 3 minutes later when junior defender
Connor Henrichs headed in a perfectly placed ball by junior midfielder
Bobby Gutierrez for his first-career goal. The score came on a free kick from just outside the box that bent over to the left post where Henrichs was lying in-wait. The Eagles went on to score one more goal in the 64th-minute to secure the 3-1 victory over Academy of Art.
Â
The Urban Knights will continue their final home stand of the season on Saturday, November 4, kicking off against Point Loma at 2:30 p.m. The match wil also celebrate senior day for men's soccer's five graduating players including:
