HONOLULU – Academy of Art men's soccer looked to win their third-consecutive match on Tuesday when they took on Chaminade. However, the Urban Knights were unable to dismantle the Silverswords defense, falling 2-0 in their second Hawaiian-contest.
Â
In the first half, ART U put together a total of four shots and had a few narrowly-missed opportunities in front of the net. One instance came in the 29th-minute when the Knights received two corner kicks less than 30 seconds apart. The surge in offense came in response to Chaminade's first goal of the match which came just 17 minutes prior.
Â
The Silverswords quickly added another goal to begin the second half, making it a 2-0 game in the 52nd-minute. ART U attempted to get on the board themselves with three more shots in the period, but they could not break through.
Â
Two of the second-half shots came off the foot of sophomore midfielder
Isiah Quiros which tied junior midfielder
Bobby Gutierrez for the team-lead in attempts. With the loss, the Urban Knights' overall record falls to 3-4-1 and their PacWest-line is now even at 2-2.
Â
Academy of Art's final match in Hawaii will take place on Thursday, October 5 against Hawaii Pacific at 3:00 p.m. HT.
