CHICO, CALIF. – Academy of Art women's soccer (0-4) headed to nationally-ranked Chico State (No.24) to face off with the Wildcats who entered Sunday's contest with a record of 3-0-1. Their relentless offense prevailed, defeating the Urban Knights 5-0.
 
In the first half, Chico posted 13 shots, eight of which were on goal. The Wildcats got one through early however, scoring in the eighth minute and adding two more in the 17th and 23rd minutes.
 
The Knights were able to bunker down in the second half, not allowing a goal until the final two minutes. Academy of Art's backline looked solid for most of the period, countering the Wildcats' attack and letting fewer shots reach goal. Sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Wirz did well coming off of the bench to start the second half, withstanding six shots on goal and recording five saves (one team save). ART U was able to create more opportunities on offense as well, holding possession much more than the first period and creating pressure in the attacking third.
 
After spending much of their season on the road thus far, the Urban Knights will travel to Seaside, Calif. to face the Cal State Monterey Bay Otters on Friday, September 16. It will be ART U's final non-conference match before PacWest play begins the following Tuesday.
