SAN FRANCISCO – Winners of four of their last five matches in 2015, Academy of Art University volleyball is determined to carry that momentum into 2016. Developing under head coachÂ
Ray Batalon's first year at the helm, the Urban Knights are determined to show the fruits of their labor this offseason and make their presence known in the Pacific West Conference.

The 2015 season was one of growth for Academy of Art as significant progress was made from the start of the year to its end. The Urban Knights worked their way through ups and downs, achieved career milestones, then finished the year on a high note, winning four of their final five matches. Academy of Art's senior class features the dynamic duo of outside hitter
Melissa Brum and libero
Kabrina Speakman who have both worked steadily to develop the program over the past three seasons. Brum was an
All-PacWest Third Team selection last season and Speakman moved into the Knights' top 10 in career digs. Joining the two seniors will be junior outside hitter
Bailey Soolsma and junior middle blocker
Margaret Winkler.
After gaining valuable experience last season, ART U's sophomore class features outside hitter/defensive specialist
Hanna Kahn, defensive specialist
Lyndsay Mlynar, setter
Alana Lucas, and middle blocker
Safua Elisaia. The Urban Knights also welcome four freshmen in outside hitter
