Tale of Two Halves: ART U Falls 77-56

ROHNERT PARK, Calif.- It was a tale of two halves on Saturday as the Urban Knights fell to Sonoma State 77-56.
 
Academy of Art, now 2-2 overall and 0-0 in conference came out of the gate firing on all cylinders. For much of the first half, ART U led the Seawolves (now 4-1, 0-0 in conference) and even enjoyed an eight-point lead in the early goings. However, Sonoma State was able to mount a comeback and take a three-point lead at the half (37-34).
 
When the second half began, the Urban Knights increased their three-point efficiency, landing four threes in the first six and a half minutes. Overall, the Urban Knights were 11-for-16 in three-point attempts (their highest total of the season) and had a .688 three-point field goal percentage. The 3-pointers were not enough however, as the Seawolves landed a total of 14 triples and had an overall shooting percent of .600 in the second half.

The Academy of Art had three players reach double digits in points. Senior guard Nick Cary had 12 points and was 4-for-5 in three-point attempts. Junior guard Chris Salas also posted 12 points, going 4-for5 from behind the three-point line as well. Sophomore guard Uchenna Okeneme had a standout-game: the Advertising major from Carson, Calif. almost completed a double-double, scoring 10 and contributing eight rebounds.
 
Sonoma State's offense had a big night as four players reached double-digit points. However, the largest contribution came from James Davis who was 5-for-8 in three-point attempts and had 19 overall points.
 
At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday night, the Urban Knights will play host to Chico State in their first home game of the season. The Wildcats were ranked 17th in the nation during preseason polls.
